COTROPIN 5000 (Chorionic Gonadotrophin)

Each vial has :

– Chorionic Gonadotrophin BP 5000 IU (HCG)
– Other ingredients as needed.

How it works :

HCG works similarly to a hormone called LH. It stimulates the production of sex hormones in the testes (for males) and ovaries (for females). In males, it helps with the development of secondary sexual characteristics and can help the testicles descend. In females, it supports ovulation and maintains hormone production during pregnancy.

Uses :

– Treating undescended testicles in young boys.
– Treating certain cases of male hormone deficiency.
– Inducing ovulation and aiding fertility in women who have trouble ovulating.

Dosage and Administration :

– Given by injection into the muscle or under the skin.
– The dosage depends on the condition, age, and weight of the patient.
– Different regimens are recommended for each specific use.

Warnings and Precautions :

– Should only be used by experienced physicians familiar with infertility treatments.
– Serious side effects may include ovarian enlargement, cyst rupture, multiple births, and blood clotting.

Side Effects :

Possible side effects include headache, irritability, restlessness, depression, fatigue, swelling, early puberty, breast enlargement, and injection site pain.
